The Woman Member of Parliament for Bukomansimbi District, Veronica Nanyondo, has called on her colleagues in the National Unity Platform (NUP) to rally behind her candidacy and work together to secure the party's victory in the forthcoming elections.

Nanyondo, who was recently handed back the NUP flag to contest for the Bukomansimbi Woman MP seat, stressed that unity was essential if the party is to consolidate its gains.

She urged fellow aspirants to put aside differences and channel their support in one direction.

"As we know, the party card is given to one person, but all of us share the same goal of changing Uganda's leadership. I call upon my colleagues not to fragment our support but to work together so that we fulfill our mission. We all agree that we are going to serve under the leadership of Kyagulanyi Ssentamu," Nanyondo said.

Her remarks come at a time when NUP is facing internal turbulence. On Monday, the party released a list of flagbearers for the 2026 elections in which several incumbents were controversially dropped.

Some of the affected MPs, including Medard Sseggona of Busiro East, have since announced that they are quitting the party, citing unfairness in the vetting process.

Against this backdrop, Nanyondo expressed confidence that the people of Bukomansimbi would continue to place their trust in NUP, pledging to prioritize agricultural produce prices, strengthen education and health services, and expand access to clean water and other basic needs.

She emphasized that the unity of NUP supporters in Bukomansimbi would be key to ensuring better service delivery and sustaining the party's momentum going into the elections.
