Uganda: Mufumbiro Slapped With Fresh Incitement Charges

22 October 2025

Nakawa East MP hopeful Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro appeared Wednesday morning before Nakawa Magistrates Court, where he was charged with inciting National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters to commit acts of violence against security officers.

Mufumbiro, contesting on the NUP ticket, is already on remand at Luzira Prison over separate charges related to military-style training.

The NUP deputy spokesperson is also scheduled to appear later today at Kawempe Magistrates Court alongside nine other suspects.

At Nakawa, Grade One Magistrate Frank Nahamya said Mufumbiro pleaded not guilty to one count of incitement.

Prosecutors allege that on September 4, 2025, in Kampala, he urged NUP supporters to target security personnel.

Magistrate Nahamya remanded him until November 6, 2025, pending completion of police investigations.
