22 October 2025

The Member of Parliament for Busujju Constituency, David Kalwanga, has been officially nominated to contest for the same seat on a National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket in the upcoming general elections, marking his bid for a second term in Parliament.

Speaking shortly after his nomination at the Matutuma nomination center in Mityana, Kalwanga reaffirmed his commitment to continue serving the people of Busujju, promising that his next term will focus on consolidating ongoing development efforts.

"I have achieved a lot with the support of my people, but there is still more to be done," Kalwanga said. "If the voters trust me again, I will build on the progress we've made to ensure every citizen of Busujju feels the impact of development."

He acknowledged that his current term came with challenges, particularly in addressing community needs with limited resources, but emphasized that significant milestones have been reached in education, health, and infrastructure.

"This term has been full of lessons and challenges, but we have managed to make real progress," he added.

"Our priority is to continue improving service delivery and empower communities to be more self-reliant."

Kalwanga also urged fellow contestants to run issue-based campaigns rather than engaging in divisive politics.

"Politics should not be about hatred or personal attacks. Let every candidate present their ideas, and let the voters choose their leader based on the best plans for development," he advised.

The nomination exercise in Mityana attracted several candidates from different political parties, all vying to represent their constituencies in the next Parliament.

Supporters described Kalwanga as a "dedicated leader" who has remained close to the people throughout his term.
