Four people including a six month old baby were on Tuesday involved in a nasty road accident as they returned from President Museveni's campaign rally in Nwoya district.

The victims mainly ladies in their mid twenties were returning on motorcycles from the NRM rally in Nwoya.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened when a speeding lorry that was heading to Gulu from the direction of Nwoya, knocked one boda that subsequently knocked another boda carrying the victims ladies throwing them on the tarmac road leading to gross injuries.

The injured Miriam Achan , 30, Ketty Shida, 28 , Filda Atto, 28, Ventorina Achan, 60 and a six month old baby, all residents of Koch Goma who were rushed to Koch Goma health centre IV by the Presidential Press Unit team that found the team in agonizing pain.

Major Jimmy Denis Omara, the Special Forces Command spokesperson together with his team evacuated the injured to the hospital for immediate first aid management.

"We found the injured in serious pain with no vehicle stopping to give them a hand. We stopped, assessed the situation, and found that they needed immediate evacuation. We evacuated them safely.

We followed them the next day and found four of the five had been discharged," Maj Omara said.

He said only one victim, Ventorina Achan, 60 was still held up in hospital as her condition required a scan to ascertain the degree of damage.

However, she was out of danger and the SFC spokesperson extended shs100,000 to each of the victims in support.

"We thank the commander SFC for all the support rendered to the victims," Maj Omara said.

He added that the office of the NRM Secretary General, Richard Todwong is going to help the elderly woman seek further medical attention.
