The Presidential Candidate of the National Peasants Party (NPP), Robert Kasibante, has pledged a transformative leadership agenda focused on governance reform, diplomatic engagement, and strengthening Uganda's rural economy.
Speaking during NBS Morning Breeze on Tuesday, Kasibante expressed gratitude to Ugandans for the warm reception he has received across the country since launching his presidential campaign earlier this year.
"I want to appreciate Ugandans. I've been welcomed well in the districts where I have been. In Mbarara, they gave me a new name--Musinguzi," Kasibante said, reflecting on his ongoing countrywide mobilisation efforts.
Kasibante, held his first major rally in Mityana, disclosed that his campaign remains well-resourced and organised despite facing some personal health challenges.

"After my first rally in Mityana, I came back weak. I had to take a few days off to heal. It's not that we were broke--we have a budget for campaigns," he said, dispelling speculation about financial strain within the NPP.
The NPP flag bearer emphasised the importance of learning from other nations and strengthening Uganda's diplomatic relations.
"We have to benchmark from other countries. We also have to make sure our relationship with other countries is good," he said.
On governance reform, Kasibante reiterated his commitment to reducing government expenditure and streamlining political structures.
"When I come to power, I will make sure to reduce the number of Members of Parliament. Also, what is the purpose of RDCs?" he questioned, signalling a review of administrative roles and government efficiency under his proposed leadership.
Assessing his current political standing, Kasibante expressed confidence in his growing support base.
"If elections were held tomorrow, I think I would get around 42%, based on the fact that I haven't visited the entire country yet. Everywhere I have gone, my message has been well received," he said.
Formerly a member of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), Kasibante previously contested for the Busujju County parliamentary seat before officially joining the National Peasants Party (NPP).
The party, founded on principles of rural development and farmers' empowerment, seeks to position the peasantry at the center of Uganda's national agenda.
Kasibante will campaign under the party's official symbol--the Pen, which he says represents knowledge, empowerment, and the voice of the common citizen.

He joins the 2026 presidential race amidst an increasingly competitive opposition force that includes two time presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Gen. Mugisha Muntu of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), Nathan Nandala Mafabi of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Elton Joseph Mabirizi of the Conservative Party (CP), and Mubarak Munyagwa of the Common Man's Party (CMP).
All are seeking to unseat incumbent President Museveni, who assumed power on 26th January, 1986 and has led the nation since.
