The African Development Bank invites civil society organizations (CSOs) across the continent to take part in Regional Consultations on the Civil Society Engagement Capacity Building Workplan.
These consultations aim to present the draft Capacity Building Workplan to civil society stakeholders and gather their perspectives to ensure that the final document reflects regional priorities and realities. Through these dialogues, the Bank seeks to foster ownership, strengthen partnerships, and enhance collaboration for the effective implementation of the Civil Society Engagement (CSE) Action Plan 2024-2028.
The sessions are open to a wide range of actors, including CSOs and networks, youth and women's organizations, governance advocacy groups, climate action movements, grassroots community associations, and development partners. Organizations working on social development, economic empowerment, governance, and environmental sustainability are particularly encouraged to participate and contribute insights that will help shape the Workplan.
The Civil Society Engagement Capacity Building Workplan is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and institutional capacity of civil society actors, enabling them to contribute more effectively to the Bank's operations, policies, and programs. It aligns with the Bank's 'four cardinal points' vision:
1. Mobilizing capital at scale to finance Africa's ambitions
2. Reforming Africa's financial architecture to promote sovereignty and autonomy
3. Harnessing the demographic dividend as a driver of transformation, and
4. Developing resilient infrastructure adapted to Africa's needs and transitions.
Alongside the consultations, the Bank is conducting a comprehensive capacity needs assessment survey to ensure the Workplan is evidence-based and responsive to the priorities of African civil society.
Your engagement will contribute to developing a regionally adapted, inclusive Capacity Building Workplan that responds to Africa's diverse contexts and priorities. The feedback gathered will be consolidated into the final version of the Workplan for validation and launch, paving the way for sustained collaboration between the Bank and civil society in advancing Africa's development agenda.
