Uganda: Kampala Toasts to October At the Big Meeting

30 October 2025

As October draws to a close, revellers gathered once again for The Big Meeting at Thrones Lounge, the popular monthly day party held every last Sunday of the month.

The event has become a Kampala favourite, offering guests a chance to toast to the month in style, with good food, lively music, and creative cocktails.

Unlike ordinary parties, The Big Meeting focuses on participation. Guests don't just sip cocktails, they make them. Guided by expert mixologists and inspired by The Singleton's rich, smooth single malt whisky, attendees had the chance to craft their own drinks.

While some preferred to enjoy their whisky neat, others embraced the sweeter side of mixology, experimenting with flavour and flair.

The event also continues to shift Kampala's social scene, proving that celebration isn't limited to the night. The Big Meeting brings the city to life during the day, creating a vibrant, fashionable atmosphere that flows naturally into the evening.

As always, Kampala's crowd showed up in full style, from elegant to chic, with some guests dancing, others mingling, and many capturing the moment on their phones.

Some tried their hand at making cocktails, while others were content to pose in the mixologist's apron and watch the professionals work their magic.

Among those who joined in the fun was singer Gloria Bugie, who stood out in an all-white outfit as she created a zesty citrus and Singleton cocktail that became a highlight of the afternoon.

Music also played a big role in setting the mood. DJs Kamali and Lynda Ddane kept the energy high with diverse sounds, Kamali spinning Afro house and Afro tech beats, while Lynda leaned into African and Caribbean classics.

The crowd's excitement grew when it was revealed that it was also Lynda Ddane's birthday, sparking cheers and celebration.

The day's entertainment reached its peak with a live performance from Vinka, who lit up the stage with hits such as Thank God, Bailando, and her latest track Lalala, keeping everyone on their feet.

For many guests, The Big Meeting was not just about music or drinks, but about freedom and creativity.

"It's liberating making your own cocktail, you can personalise it in ways you want," said one reveller.

Simon Lapyem, Brand Manager for The Singleton, said the experience was designed to give guests room to explore and enjoy.

"This experience is about letting people express themselves through the flavour and creativity of The Singleton," he said, adding, "Because enjoying a good drink should be as fun and unique as the people having it."

Those who missed the October edition can look forward to the next Big Meeting on November 30th, once again at Thrones Lounge, promising another round of creativity, connection, and celebration.
