The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairman for Western Uganda and Hoima City, Engineer Jonard Asiimwe, has urged residents to support President Museveni and all NRM flagbearers in the upcoming general elections to ensure continued development in the city.
Speaking during his Sunday altar meeting at Bujura Ward in Karongo, Hoima City West, Asiimwe said that voting for opposition or independent candidates undermines access to government resources and limits the city's development opportunities.
"I'm here to remind you that our best-tested presidential candidate is President Museveni," Asiimwe said.
"But he will not work alone. We want you to vote for all our flagbearers. Voting for opposition or independent councilors disconnects our city from government support."

He highlighted the achievements Hoima City has recorded under NRM leadership, including the construction of Hoima City Stadium, improved roads, access to PDM funds, and the development of Kabalega Airport.
"Without voting NRM, most of these would not have been possible," he emphasized.
Asiimwe warned against supporting opposition parties like NUP, ANT, and PFF, claiming they lack influence within government and have criticized achievements under NRM.
"If we want more progress, we must make Hoima City yellow. Many regions lag behind because of their voting patterns," he said.
He also cited Hoima's oil and gas potential as a reason to ensure the city remains under NRM leadership.
"The world is watching Hoima. We must organize it under NRM leaders who can lobby directly with the President for positive developments," Asiimwe said.
Donald Bategeka, NRM flagbearer for Hoima City West MP, asked voters to support him in the general elections, pointing to a strong presence of opposition candidates in the constituency, including Kasule Ismail (ANT), Ronald Kato (NUP), and independent Dr. Joseph Ruyonga.
"Like you supported me in the NRM party flag elections, let's do it again. I'm ready to implement the NRM manifesto, but what will the opposition fulfill?" he said.
Amuri Kasuga, Hoima City West Resident City Commissioner, assured voters that security agencies are ready to enforce a peaceful and fair electoral process.
"Our office is working with security agencies to ensure candidates and voters follow Electoral Commission rules," Kasuga said.
Engineer Asiimwe noted that the altar meetings would continue across wards and parishes in Hoima City to mobilize NRM structures and maintain contact with party supporters.
