The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Nakaseke District, Rosemary Byabashaija, has cautioned candidates participating in ongoing campaigns to practice mature and respectful politics, warning against acts of malice, slander, and intimidation.
Byabashaija emphasized the need for candidates to convince voters through their ideas rather than insults or property destruction, noting that politics should not divide communities.
"Try to convince people to join you instead of using slander and malice. Life doesn't stop with campaigns; we have a life after elections," she advised.
The RDC revealed that her office has already arrested at least one suspect from Nakaseke South accused of tearing posters belonging to candidates, especially those representing the ruling NRM party.

"The suspect tore posters of Charles Nsereko, the NRM MP flag bearer for Nakaseke South, as well as those of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. I have also received reports of people intimidating others for wearing NRM T-shirts, which is illegal. Everyone has the right to support a party of their choice," Byabashaija said.
Nakaseke Central Constituency, one of the most hotly contested areas in the district, has also seen heightened campaign activity.
The incumbent MP, Allan Mayanja Sebunya of the National Unity Platform (NUP), launched his campaigns in Kikamulo Subcounty, emphasizing a door-to-door strategy.
"Door-to-door is the most effective method for me to reach voters. I want people to understand the plans our party has for them and why they should trust Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu with this country for better service delivery," Sebunya stated.
His main challenger, the NRM flag bearer and State Minister for Kampala, Joseph Kabuye Kyofatogabye, also hit the campaign trail in Butalangu Town Council.
He pledged to improve education, especially for girls who drop out due to long distances to schools, and enhance the road network to help farmers transport produce to markets.
"We agree there were mistakes in the previous elections, and as NRM, we apologize to the people of Nakaseke. But we should not stay in the past. Vote for the ruling party to guarantee better service delivery," Kyofatogabye said.
As campaigns intensify across Nakaseke, the RDC's warning serves as a reminder for candidates and supporters to maintain peace and respect throughout the electoral process.
