16 November 2025

Police in Kaabong District have launched a manhunt for armed criminals who ambushed and robbed two businesspeople along Kalapata Road in Morukori Village, Lotim Sub-county.

The victims, identified as Suli Maganda and Jalia Kibone, were attacked by gunmen who made off with their merchandise, including clothes, shoes, and motorcycles.

According to police, the assailants staged the ambush in a secluded area, forcing the traders off the road before robbing them at gunpoint.

Karamoja Regional Police Spokesperson, IP Mike Longole, confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing.

"The police are actively pursuing the criminals involved in this attack. We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or movements," Longole said.

The incident adds to growing concerns over highway robberies in parts of Karamoja, with security forces pledging to intensify patrols to ensure the safety of travelers and traders in the region.
