Uganda: Pictures - Museveni Pledges Roads and Progress in Namutumba

18 November 2025

President Museveni reminded residents of Namutumba that Busoga was a key area during Uganda's liberation struggle, noting the sacrifices of local cadres.

"I was representing our comrades who died in that struggle," he said, citing Nkooko and Ntale, who were executed in Jinja for supporting the fight.

He stressed that the foundation of Uganda's progress rests on peace, a principle closely associated with the NRM.

The President highlighted development as the second key pillar. He pointed to the Nakalama-Busembatya-Tirinyi-Mbale road, noting that today, travellers no longer need to pass through Tororo to reach Mbale unless heading to Kenya.

He also announced upcoming road projects, including Nabumali-Namutumba, Busembatya-Namakoko, and Kaliro-Namutumba-Mazuba, planned for the next financial year.

Museveni said his Principal Secretary will follow up with local leaders to ensure pledged projects are implemented.

He concluded by noting that his campaign would continue in the region, with visits to Buyende and Kaliro scheduled for the following day, carrying the NRM message of peace, stability, and development.
