Uganda: NRM's Musa Mbazira Showcases His Development Record in Rubaga South

24 November 2025

Rubaga South Member of Parliament candidate under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag, Mbazira Musa, showcased his track record and challenged his rival's understanding of local issues during the Rubaga South Parliamentary Debate hosted by NBS Television on Sunday.

Speaking at the debate, Musa emphasized the progress made in infrastructural development during his tenure.

"I came into leadership when many drainages were not properly constructed. So far, we have worked on about 14 drainages in Rubaga. Completing 14 drainages in a five-year term shows that the performance is not so bad," he said.

Mbaziira also questioned whether his competitor, Samuel Walter Lubega Mukaaku, fully comprehends the challenges facing Rubaga South.

"I want to ask Lubega Mukaaku whether he truly understands the problems and challenges of Rubaga South or if he is only imagining them. How can one address the issues of a place where they neither live nor visit?" he asked.

Mbazira M is set to face off against Eugenia Nassolo of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Samuel Walter Lubega Mukaaku of the Democratic Party (DP), Alex Bukenya of the People's Front for Freedom (PFF), Dorah Nalubega of the Democratic Party (DP), as well as independent candidates including veteran legislator John Ken Lukyamuzi, Eng. Musinguzi Ronard, Aloyzious Mukasa, and Mugga Adam Swift.

All candidates are seeking to replace incumbent Aloyzious Mukasa, who has represented the constituency under the NUP ticket since 2021. In the last election, Mukasa beat fourteen other contenders, winning with 49,501 votes.

With just months to the elections, the Rubaga South parliamentary seat is poised to become one of the most closely watched contests of the 2026 polls.
