Southern Africa: Uganda Airlines Partners With Airlink to Expand Travel Across Southern Africa

ENTEBBE -- Uganda Airlines has signed a new interline agreement with Airlink, Southern Africa's leading private airline, enhancing travel connectivity between East and Southern Africa.

The partnership allows passengers to book a single ticket from Entebbe to over 45 destinations across Southern Africa via Johannesburg's O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB).

The agreement provides a seamless travel experience, enabling through-check-in for passengers and their baggage, eliminating the need for multiple bookings and check-ins in Johannesburg.

Destinations covered include key business and leisure hubs such as Cape Town, Durban, Victoria Falls, Windhoek, and Gaborone.

"We are excited to partner with Airlink, a respected airline known for its extensive regional network," said Adedayo Olawuyi, Chief Commercial Officer of Uganda Airlines.

"This interline agreement is a significant step in making intra-African travel easier, providing our customers with unparalleled convenience and choice when travelling to key destinations across Southern Africa, all on a single ticket."

Airlink's Chief Commercial Officer, Katherine Whelan, said the partnership strengthens the airline's commitment to connecting Africa.

"It opens up a vital gateway in East Africa for our customers and provides Ugandan travellers with efficient access to Southern Africa's economic and tourism centres. It's a win-win for both airlines and our customers," she noted.

The partnership is expected to boost trade and tourism links, offering Ugandan travellers increased travel options while enabling Airlink's customers to connect easily to Uganda Airlines' growing African network.

It also ensures a smoother journey for passengers, with luggage automatically transferred between airlines.

Uganda Airlines, the national carrier of Uganda, operates scheduled flights to 17 African destinations, with plans to expand to Europe.

The airline has been recognised five times with the "Ch-Aviation Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award" for its modern and environmentally conscious fleet.

Airlink, established in 1992, operates 67 routes to 47 destinations across 15 Southern African countries, including Madagascar and St Helena Island.

The airline maintains worldwide connections through 43 global partners and a codeshare network with 11 carriers, including Qatar Airways.
