Uganda: Buganda Kingdom Celebrates Excellence, Calls for Professionalism Among Staff

Civil servants of the Buganda Kingdom gathered for their annual council meeting, presided over by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Administration & ICT, Prof. Twaha Kaawaase Kigongo.

The event, held at the kingdom Headquarters in Bulange, Mengo, focused on land management and the responsibilities of Kingdom officials in avoiding common errors in land transactions.

Kaawaase noted that the kingdom employs over 1,700 staff members, emphasizing the need for dedicated service to the kingdom.

He thanked civil servants for their work over the past year and encouraged them to continue actively participating in all kingdom initiatives.

"Serving the Kingdom confers status and enables one to excel in other endeavors, but it also requires integrity, punctuality, collaboration, respect for superiors and subordinates, and adherence to the Kingdom's regulations," Kaawaase said.

He urged officials to maintain professionalism and ethical conduct in all their duties.

Awards were presented to outstanding civil servants of the year. Ssenoga Kenneth received the third-place award, Dennis Ssebwana was named second runner-up, and Kasaali Alex was honored as the kingdom's civil servant of the Year 2025.

The Minister for Lukiiko, Information, Cabinet Affairs, Protocol and the Official Kingdom Spokesperson, Noah Kiyimba, reminded staff that "salary alone does not define success; it is what you accomplish with your time and the resources at your disposal that truly matters."

He urged civil servants to avoid corruption, refrain from exploiting fellow employees, and uphold the Kingdom's values, which appreciate dedicated service.

The Chief Secretary and Head of Administration, Josephine Nantege, expressed gratitude to the staff for their commitment and encouraged them to maintain excellence, creativity, and unity in their work.

In his remarks, Deputy Chief Secretary, Peter Zzaake praised the Kingdom leadership and Prof. Kaawaase for exemplary guidance and urged civil servants to continue fulfilling their responsibilities diligently.
