30 November 2025

A team of six young leaders and entrepreneurs from Busoga has departed for a high-level entrepreneurship and rural transformation training at China Agricultural University.

The delegation, drawn from Namayombe Village in Namayingo District, Mashiage Village in Mayuge District, Busana Village in Kamuli District, and the BCD secretariat, represents the growing impact of the Busoga-China partnership in empowering rural youth across the region.

The team includes Mirembe Esther, Public Relations Officer at Busoga Consortium (team leader); Ojiambo Lucas, Assistant Agriculture Officer, Namayingo District; Nambi Lydia, Secretary for Women, Busana Village, Kamuli District; Kintu Brian, Chief Executive Officer, Kamuli; and Emma Byaruhanga, Brand Officer, Busoga Consortium for Development.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Dr. Mula Anthony, Director General of the Busoga Consortium for Development, underscored the organisation's long-term vision of empowering young people through exposure, practical training, and sustained development planning.

"Our goal is to equip at least 1 million young people from Busoga with the knowledge, skills, and global exposure required to transform rural communities, accelerate development and create wealth. This delegation is part of that bigger dream," Dr. Mula said.

The training programme, scheduled from November 30 to December 14, will focus on modern agricultural systems, entrepreneurship, digital integration, and community-centred development models.

It is part of the Global South Entrepreneur Initiative championed by China Agricultural University in partnership with Tencent.

The Busoga-China collaboration, signed in November 2023, aims to strengthen technical support for the Village Agricultural Model, expand capacity-building and scholarship programmes, and accelerate agricultural modernization, entrepreneurship, and grassroots economic growth.

The flag-off ceremony marks an important milestone in the partnership, reaffirming the commitment of both parties to empower rural youth and foster economic transformation across Busoga.
