Luanda — The president of the World Free Zones Organization (WFZO), Mohammed Alzarooni, on Wednesday praised the growing commitment of African countries to strengthening competitiveness, expanding productive capacity and building a business environment that brings high-quality long-term investments to the region.
In a virtual intervention, at the opening of the first African Sustainable Investment Summit (ASIS), which is taking place in Luanda, the official pointed out that investors and industrial leaders on the continent are creating a future characterized by stronger connectivity, deeper cooperation and confidence in growth.
In this sense, he said that Special Economic Zones (SEZs) play a fundamental role in the progress sought in the "cradle continent", insofar as they support economic diversification, drive industrial development and create conditions for new sectors and opportunities to emerge.
He highlighted the steps Angola has taken, citing as examples the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone and the development of the Lobito Corridor.
