Uganda: Museveni Rallies Bushenyi for Peace and NRM Support

2 December 2025

President Museveni, accompanied by First Lady Janet Museveni, addressed a rally in Bushenyi today, urging Ugandans to value peace and support the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Speaking at the event, Museveni referenced the suffering caused by conflict in Sudan, where a local leader, Bassajabalaba, lost a friend and four daughters to rebels.

"Sudan was torn by religious divisions, and the suffering is immense. This is why we must treasure peace," he said, adding that Uganda once faced similar dangers but the NRM restored stability.

"Supporting the NRM is supporting your own safety and the peace of our nation," Museveni emphasized.

The President also announced infrastructure and development plans for the district. Key roads, including Mbarara-Bushenyi and Kabwohe-Bugongi-Kitagata, will be rebuilt.

He highlighted progress in education, noting that Bushenyi now hosts 16 government secondary schools, 155 primary schools, and 65 private secondary schools.

On electricity concerns, Museveni promised to investigate local power blackouts, noting that Uganda's electricity supply is strong and that the problem may simply be due to disconnected wires.
