Preparations are in high gear in Kitagwenda District ahead of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni's scheduled campaign visit on December 6, according to the Electoral Commission campaign roadmap.

Kitagwenda District NRM Chairperson, Nathan Mushana, confirmed that arrangements are almost complete as the district gears up to host the President.

"Preparations for the President's visit are underway, and we are optimistic that the rally will be a successful one," Mushana told the Nile on Wednesday.

He noted that the organising team has worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth and impactful event. "Almost everything is ready. We are just waiting for the President to come so that we show him massive support," he added.

Kitagwenda has historically demonstrated strong backing for President Museveni. In the previous general election, the President garnered 86% of the district's vote.

This time, district NRM leaders believe he will perform even better due to increased mobilisation and what they describe as growing confidence in his leadership.

Mushana revealed that they expect a significant turnout for the rally. "We anticipate over 20,000 supporters to attend. Kitagwenda is ready," he emphasised.

The President is expected to address a major rally in Kitagwenda before proceeding to Fort Portal for another engagement later in the day.
