Ugandan MPs Step Up Final Training Ahead of East African Inter-Parliamentary Games

4 December 2025

Ugandan lawmakers are in their final training sessions ahead of the 14th East African Inter-Parliamentary Games, which begin tomorrow and run from 5 to 17 December.

The team has intensified its preparations as Uganda prepares to compete against delegations from Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Several MPs used the final drills to reflect on their sporting backgrounds, noting how much potential they once had. "Come and see us the policymakers in action on the pitch. It's going to be a great moment because we shall show everyone that we used to play good football, and some of us should have been ex-internationals, but we lacked the opportunity," Kayemba said.

Kakuuto County MP Geoffrey Lutaaya, also part of the football squad, called on fans to show up in strong numbers and stressed the wider significance of the event.

"Apart from football, this event is a symbol of integration. When countries from the Great Lakes region come together, we discuss key matters that concern our continent," Lutaaya said.

All matches will air live on NBS Sport and Afro Mobile.
