Police in Kampala have assured the public of comprehensive security measures ahead of the Watoto Church Christmas Cantata 2025, scheduled to take place at Old Kampala Secondary School grounds from December 17 to 22, 2025.

Preparations for the highly anticipated annual event are in their final stages, with organizers expecting an attendance of more than 50,000 people over the six-day celebration.

Authorities and organizers have jointly urged the public to adhere to all guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe, orderly, and successful event.

Watoto Church, renowned for its annual Christmas Cantata, will once again host the celebrations at the Old Kampala SS grounds.

Major preparations at the venue have already been completed, including the erection of Kampala's tallest Christmas tree and the full setup of a modern performance stage for the cantata productions.

According to the chief organizer, Pastor Julius Rwotlonyo, all logistical arrangements are in place.

He revealed that the celebrations will officially kick off on Tuesday with Christmas Carols, featuring performances from ten different churches alongside various guest artists.

"We shall begin with Christmas Carols, and in the evening, we shall light the tallest Christmas tree in Kampala," Pastor Julius said.

In the spirit of giving, believers attending the event have been encouraged to come with small financial contributions.

The funds raised will support children's homes and baby care centers across Kampala.

"Please come with your offerings; the money collected will help us reach out to children living in various babies' homes around Kampala," Pastor Julius added.

Church leaders also issued a firm warning to politicians, urging them to refrain from introducing political activities into the celebrations.

They emphasized that the Christmas Cantata is a purely religious event and should remain focused on worship, unity, and charity.

"Politicians are warned not to disrupt the celebrations with political activities. We ask everyone to follow the set guidelines," the pastors cautioned.

Meanwhile, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed that police will deploy adequate personnel to maintain security throughout the event.

"There will be designated parking areas, and security personnel will be deployed accordingly to ensure safety," Owoyesigyire said.

He further urged members of the public to strictly observe security procedures, particularly those related to vehicle parking, access routes, and entry points at the venue.

"We ask everyone to observe the rules, especially at the entry gates to the venue," he added.

Police have also advised parents and guardians to closely monitor their children during the celebrations due to the large crowds expected.

Politicians and other leaders wishing to attend have been encouraged to coordinate with Watoto Church organizers and comply with all event protocols.

The Watoto Church Christmas Cantata 2025, running from December 17 to 22 at Old Kampala Secondary School grounds, is expected to once again bring together thousands of worshippers for music, drama, and messages celebrating the birth of Christ, while promoting community outreach and compassion.
