ROKO Construction Ltd has been named Contractor of the Year by the Uganda National Association of Builders, Suppliers and Engineering Contractors (UNABSEC), in recognition of its performance and contribution to Uganda's construction industry.

The award was presented on December 12, 2025, during the Uganda Construction Excellence Awards (UCEA) ceremony held at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.

The UCEA awards, organised by UNABSEC, are aimed at recognising excellence across the construction sector, including innovation, professionalism, leadership, quality of workmanship, customer satisfaction and sustainable construction practices.

UNABSEC, formerly known as the Uganda National Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors, is a non-profit, member-driven trade association representing more than 457 registered contractors and construction-related companies nationwide.

Commenting on the award, ROKO Construction Ltd Chairman and Managing Director Mark Koehler said the recognition reflects the company's long-standing commitment to quality and professionalism.

"This award is a strong encouragement to our teams across all levels of the company. Delivering quality projects has always been central to ROKO's approach," Koehler said.

"Quality is embedded in how we work. We place great emphasis on careful planning, monitoring, analysis and continuous improvement, all aligned with international standards," he added.

Koehler said the company is positioning itself to take on larger and more complex infrastructure projects in the coming year, supported by strong internal capacity.

"Our focus remains on delivering reliable, high-quality infrastructure that meets our clients' expectations and contributes positively to Uganda's development," he said.

He noted that ROKO's delivery capacity is underpinned by its relative self-sufficiency across most construction disciplines, with a strong emphasis on training technicians and craftsmen to achieve high standards of workmanship.

In 2025, ROKO completed and handed over several major national projects, including the Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute in Jinja and the new headquarters of the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.

Work is also progressing on other key government projects, including construction at Parliament and the National Planning Authority headquarters, commonly known as Planning House, which are entering critical phases of execution.

The projects underscore ROKO Construction Ltd's continued role in shaping Uganda's infrastructure landscape across multiple sectors.
