Uganda: UNEB Warns School Heads of Impostors Claiming to Be Security Committee Members

24 December 2025

Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has warned heads of examination centres and the general public to beware of fraudsters posing as members of the UNEB Security Committee.

According to the notice, these impostors are approaching head teachers and school directors, demanding money in exchange for promises to improve candidates' grades or to remove schools from lists of institutions suspected of examination malpractice.

In the statement, UNEB's Principal Public Relations Officer, Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, emphasized that the board "does not condone such a vice" and urges everyone to report any involvement with these impostors.

The board has set up toll-free lines--0800-111-427 and 0800 211 077--for the public to report such cases to the police or directly to UNEB.

The notice concludes by assuring that anyone providing useful information about these fraudulent activities will be protected under the board's whistle-blower policy.

"It has come to the attention of the Board that there are some impostors conning Head Teachers and School Directors of money, allegedly to either help them improve the grades of their candidates, or remove their schools from the list of those suspected to have been involved in examination malpractice," the statement reads

"UNEB hereby cautions Heads of Examination Centres at all levels against involvement with such impostors," it warns.

"The Board does not condone such a vice and appeals to the public to report such cases to the police or inform the Board through its toll-free lines," the release adds.
