Uganda: Hoima Receives Four Motorcycles to Strengthen PDM, Emyooga and Extension Services

9 January 2026

Hoima District has received four brand new motorcycles aimed at strengthening the implementation and monitoring of key government programmes, including the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga and agricultural extension services.

The motorcycles were commissioned at the district headquarters by the Hoima Resident District Commissioner, who was represented by the Assistant Resident District Commissioner, Shafih Ntuuyo.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Ntuuyo commended the NRM government under the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for prioritising effective service delivery focused on improving household incomes and transforming livelihoods.

He said the motorcycles would ease the movement of officers tasked with supervising and monitoring government programmes at the grassroots, thereby improving accountability and service delivery.

Hoima District Chief Administrative Officer Emmanuel Ssempala urged the officers who will be using the motorcycles to deploy them responsibly and ensure they contribute directly to quality service delivery and poverty alleviation.

Ssempala said the district remains committed to implementing all government programmes aimed at improving the welfare of Ugandans and called on technical staff to maximise the impact of the new equipment.

Dr Kajura Charles, the Hoima District Production and Marketing Officer who also serves as the Bunyoro Region PDM focal person, said three of the motorcycles were procured by the district production department.

He added that the fourth motorcycle was donated by the Ministry of Trade and Industry to support the district's commercial services section, particularly in monitoring Emyooga and related enterprise development activities.

District officials said the motorcycles will improve field supervision, data collection and follow-up of beneficiaries, especially in hard-to-reach areas, as Hoima steps up efforts to implement government programmes effectively.
