Nairobi — Google Kenya Country General Manager Phyllis Migwi has announced she will leave her position in February, ending a three-and-a-half-year tenure at the helm of the company's Kenyan operations.
In a post on LinkedIn, Migwi did not disclose her next role or destination.
"After an enriching 3.5 years, I am excited to share that I'll be transitioning from my role this February," Migwi said, adding that it was time to "pass the baton" to new leadership.
Migwi joined Google Kenya in 2022 and has overseen the company's engagement with government, businesses and developer communities during a period of accelerated digital adoption.
Her role involved identifying opportunities for new digital solutions aligned to customer needs, as well as supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives within the organisation.
She noted that Google's work in Kenya and the wider region remains critical, particularly in supporting local businesses and communities, and expressed confidence that the next leader would build on the foundation already established.
Migwi previously worked for the International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) in a variety of roles, including Regional Head of Africa Growth Market, Hybrid Clou, and AI.
