He said efforts by residents to intervene by throwing stones at the assailants were met with fire as they shot in the air to deter any pursuit.

Owoyesigyire said Police officers from Kira Road Police Division, together with other senior officers, visited and secured the scene.

" A case was registered at Kiwatule Police Station vide CRB 005/2026. The Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) documented the scene, statements from relevant witnesses were recorded, and CCTV footage was reviewed and secured for further analysis. The SAR rifle of the deceased and one live AK-47 round were recovered as exhibits. The body of the deceased was conveyed to KCCA City Mortuary for post-mortem examination."

He said investigations into the murder and robbery are ongoing, and efforts to identify, trace, and arrest the suspects are underway, urging the public to remain calm and to share any information that may aid investigations with the nearest police station.

The incident is one of the isolated ones in recent months after security previously dismantled gangs involved in such crimes.
