Kenya: KTDA Names New Acting CEO As Wilson Muthaura Exits Office

19 January 2026

Nairobi — Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) Holdings Ltd has appointed Eng. Francis Miano as its Acting Group Chief Executive Officer, effective January 16, 2026, following the exit of long-serving CEO Wilson Muthaura.

Eng. Miano, a registered professional engineer and corporate member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya, has over 30 years of executive experience. He currently heads KTDA's Group Technical Services Division and brings extensive institutional knowledge to the top role.

The leadership change comes after Mr. Muthaura proceeded on terminal leave, bringing his tenure at the tea agency to an end.

In a statement, the KTDA Board, chaired by Chege Kirundi, thanked Mr. Muthaura for his service and wished him well in his future engagements.

KTDA oversees tea production and marketing for more than 600,000 smallholder farmers, making the leadership transition closely watched within Kenya's tea sector.
