The 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results will be officially released on Friday at State House, Nakasero, the Ministry of Education and Sports has confirmed.
The results will be announced by the Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs Janet Kataha Museveni, during a ceremony expected to highlight candidates' overall performance, gender distribution and trends compared to previous years.
According to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), a total of 818,010 candidates registered for the 2025 PLE, marking a 2.5 per cent increase from the 797,444 candidates registered in 2024.
Of these, 428,398 were girls while 389,589 were boys, continuing the trend of female candidates slightly outnumbering their male counterparts at primary level.

Education officials say the rise in candidature reflects improved enrolment and retention in primary schools, although challenges such as overcrowded classrooms and teacher shortages persist in some parts of the country.
Ahead of the release of the results, the Ministry of Education and Sports also postponed the opening of the first term of the 2026 academic year.
In a circular dated January 16, 2026, the ministry announced that schools will reopen on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, instead of the earlier scheduled dates.
The postponement applies to all public and private education institutions, including nursery schools and kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, tertiary institutions and universities.
The ministry said the decision was taken to ensure the safety and security of learners and staff following the general elections period.
The release of the PLE results is expected to guide the placement of successful candidates into secondary schools and other post-primary institutions across the country.
