Africa: AUC Chairperson Today Received H.E. Ms. Annette Weber, EU Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, today received H.E. Ms. Annette Weber, EU Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa. Their discussion focused on regional peace & security, enhanced AU-EU cooperation in mediation, peace support operations & diplomacy, & a shared commitment to strengthening multilateralism.

The Chairperson commended Amb. Weber's sustained engagement in advancing dialogue in Sudan, South Sudan & Somalia, & in close collaboration with the AU.

Ms. Weber reaffirmed the EU's support for AU leadership & agency in mediation, including continued contributions to AU-led peace support operations, notably in Somalia.
