Angola: Former Angop Journalist Élio Gambôa to Be Buried Friday

Luanda — Former Angola Press Agency (ANGOP) journalist Élio Gambôa, who died this week from illness, will be buried on Friday at 10 am at the Santa Ana Cemetery in Luanda.

According to the funeral program, the wake will begin at 6 pm Thursday at the Luanda Province Funeral Home.

Élio Orlando Mangueira Olavo Gambôa was part of the Angola Press Agency staff since 1975, having followed the development process of ANGOP as a news agency.

Throughout his career, he worked as a reporter, writer, and sub-editor for the International Desk, and also served as ANGOP's delegate in London from September 1984 to December 1988.

In the diplomatic field, he worked as a cultural and press attaché at the Angolan Embassy in Algeria, between September 1978 and October 1980, and in Cuba, from 1980 to May 1984.

Élio Gambôa leaves behind three children and three grandchildren.
