Angola: Operations With Payment App Kwik Grow Over 100 Percent

Luanda — At least 35 million transactions, totaling 590 billion kwanzas, were processed through the KWiK instant payment system in 2025, marking over 100 percent growth in volume and value compared to 2024.

In December of last year alone, for example, KWiK reached 3.5 million transfers valued at 74.5 billion kwanzas, establishing itself as one of the pillars of the modernization of the Angolan Payment System and financial inclusion.

The data was disclosed during the 7th Ordinary Session of the Coordination Committee of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (CCENIF), which was led by Minister of State for Economic Coordination José de Lima Massano.

According to a CCENIF press release, KWiK's growth drives the fulfillment of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (ENIF) 2025-2027 objectives, which include expanding access to digital financial services, fostering interoperability between institutions, and reducing costs for consumers.

It adds that KWiK's technological evolution roadmap includes several functionalities: payments and purchases with a QR code; service payments; payments to the state; merchant management through the automated teller machine.

Currently, 22 financial institutions, including banking and non-banking institutions are part of the KWiK ecosystem.

KWiK, developed by EMIS in partnership with the National Bank of Angola, is an innovative instant payment tool in Angola that allows users to send money and make payments in seconds, 24 hours a day. It facilitates transactions between different banks and mobile wallets.

The platform allows users to make immediate transfers via "banking app" or mobile wallet without going to a bank. Users associate an identifier, such as a mobile phone number or email address, with an account to simplify the receipt of funds.

KWiK is compatible with all banks and payment service providers in Angola.
