Angola: Basketball Championship - Sporting Defeats 1º De Agosto

Luanda — Sporting de Luanda defeated 1º de Agosto 91-74 on Tuesday (27) in one of the highlights of the 2nd round, Group A, of the Senior Men's National Basketball Championship, played at the Cidadela pavilion.

The match was marked by balance in the first quarter, where Sporting took a 14-13 lead.

In the 2nd quarter, 1º de Agosto returned dominant and reached halftime with a 44-38 lead.

Sporting started the 3rd quarter demonstrating winning ability, however, they once again fell behind 58-67.

Sporting's comeback occurred in the final period, when Aníbal Moreira's team changed their defensive scheme, leaving the opponent with almost no solutions on offense and triumphed with a 33-7 score.

With 15 points, Marcelo João from 1º de Agosto was the game's top scorer, while Sporting's Lucas Bondo recorded a double (13 points and 13 rebounds).

Partial Scores: 13-14; 31-24; 33-20 and 33-7

In the other game, Petro de Luanda, the reining champion, defeated Interclube 97-73, in a match played at the 28 de Fevereiro pavilion.

With this victory, Petro de Luanda take the lead in the competition, with 4 points.

Also on the same day, at the Isptec pavilion, Petro de Luanda B beat Casa do Pessoal do Porto do Lobito, 79-63.
