Journalist Dean Lubowa Saava, who faces charges related to defamation and operating a broadcasting platform without a license, appeared before court today and entered a plea bargain, conceding to the charges as proceedings in the matter continue.
Court officials confirmed that the case will return for a final ruling this Friday.
Saava has been under investigation and prosecution over allegations that he operated an online television platform without authorization from the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), in addition to claims that content published through his channels defamed several public figures.
Previous court records indicate that Saava was accused of running an online broadcaster known as TV 10 Gano Mazima without a valid license and continuing operations despite regulatory directives.

Authorities also alleged that material disseminated on the platform contained statements considered defamatory toward prominent individuals.
Earlier proceedings before the Standards, Utilities and Wildlife Court in Makindye heard that the communications regulator had repeatedly directed him to regularize his operations before legal action was pursued.
In a related civil matter, the High Court previously issued an injunction restraining Saava from publishing further statements deemed defamatory against a senior government official, noting that such publications risked damaging the official's reputation.
During today's session, Saava opted for a plea bargain and conceded, signaling a possible conclusion to the long-running legal dispute that has spanned several months and involved multiple hearings.
Legal observers say plea agreements in such cases often aim to expedite proceedings and reduce the burden of a full trial, particularly where investigations have already been completed.
The court is expected to deliver its final ruling when Saava returns on Friday, a decision that could determine penalties or other legal consequences arising from the charges.
