Uganda Courts UK Investors As Trade Delegation Begins Engagements

17 February 2026

Uganda has stepped up efforts to attract foreign investment as a United Kingdom business delegation began high-level engagements aimed at identifying new trade and partnership opportunities.

Lisa Chesney, the UK High Commissioner to Uganda, together with Nimisha Madhvani, Tuesday morning briefed visiting members of the Westminster Africa Business Association ahead of meetings with senior government officials scheduled for later in the day.

The delegation's visit is expected to focus on investment prospects and strengthening commercial ties, as Uganda positions itself as a competitive destination for international business.

The Westminster Africa Business Association (WABA), a UK-based organization, promotes trade, investment, and business partnerships between the United Kingdom and African countries. It convenes business leaders, policymakers, diplomats, and investors to support strategic networking, knowledge exchange, and economic collaboration.

Through trade missions, policy briefings, and high-level forums, WABA helps its members identify opportunities across African markets while strengthening commercial and diplomatic relations.

Operating as a not-for-profit body, the association promotes sustainable UK-Africa economic engagement and seeks to facilitate mutually beneficial partnerships.

Officials say the visit provides an opportunity to showcase Uganda's investment potential while deepening economic cooperation with the United Kingdom.
