Nairobi — The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has confirmed Eng. Luka Kipchumba Kimeli as its Director General after serving in an acting capacity since July last year.
Kimeli succeeds Kungu Ndung'u, who resigned after serving in the role for more than three years.
In a statement, KeNHA said the Board of Directors, in consultation with the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, approved Kimeli's appointment effective February 17, 2026.
"The appointment of the Director General followed a competitive and transparent recruitment process, conducted in accordance with the provisions in the Kenya Roads Act, 2007 and other relevant applicable public service procedures," the Authority said.
The new DG boosts 27 years of experience in infrastructure development, strategic programme delivery and public sector leadership within the roads sub-sector.
KeNHA, established under the Kenya Roads Act of 2007 and inaugurated in September 2008, is mandated to develop, rehabilitate, manage and maintain national trunk roads, including Class S, A and B roads.
