The Kabale District Kadhi, Sheikh Kabu Luule, has urged Ugandans to practice forgiveness, repentance, and reconciliation during the holy month of Ramadan.
Addressing the media in Kabale, Sheikh Luule explained that Ramadan is not only a time for fasting but also a sacred period for spiritual renewal, self-examination, and improving one's relationship with Allah and fellow human beings.
He encouraged believers to sincerely repent, seek Allah's mercy with humility, forgive those who have wronged them, and also ask forgiveness from anyone they may have hurt.
"Many communities are currently affected by conflicts, misunderstandings, and strained relationships that weaken unity and peaceful coexistence. I want to call on Muslims and all citizens to use the spiritual atmosphere of Ramadan to repair broken ties within families, neighborhoods, and workplaces," Luule said.

He emphasized that true observance of Ramadan goes beyond abstaining from food and drink during the day.
According to the Kadhi, fasting should be accompanied by good character, compassion, charity, and acts of kindness. He warned that anger, resentment, and hatred diminish the spiritual rewards of fasting.
"I also appeal to religious leaders, parents, and community heads to guide young people in understanding the deeper meaning of Ramadan by teaching patience, forgiveness, and accountability, which help nurture responsible and God-fearing citizens," he added.
Sheikh Luule further encouraged people of all faiths to maintain peace and mutual respect during the holy month, noting that forgiveness is a universal value that strengthens national unity and promotes harmony across religious and cultural lines.
He expressed hope that Ramadan would inspire lasting change, urging everyone to emerge spiritually renewed, reconciled with one another, and committed to living righteous and peaceful lives.
