Africa: AUC Chairperson Met With Hon. Judge Issoufou Boureima, President of the AU Administrative Tribunal

H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, met with Hon. Judge Issoufou Boureima, President of the AU Administrative Tribunal, & reaffirmed his commitment to an independent, effective & modern internal justice system.

The Chairperson & Judge Boureima agreed to advance the comprehensive review of the Tribunal's legal framework, modernise its Statute & procedures in line with international best practice, & progressively reduce the case backlog, including through the timely execution of judgments in full respect of the rule of law.

Chairperson Youssouf underscored that internal justice must reinforce institutional responsibility & individual accountability, strengthen risk management & administrative rigour, & promote early dispute resolution to prevent avoidable litigation & foster a culture of ethics, good governance & accountability across the Union.
