Sports Club Villa president Omar Ahmed Mandela has declared that he is not leaving office and will contest again for the club's top seat, despite mounting pressure from a section of members calling for his exit.
For the past months, Mandela, who has been at the helm since 2021, has faced criticism from some former club members who accuse his leadership of steering the Jogoos into turbulence.
The latest calls have demanded that he steps aside ahead of the forthcoming elections.

However, speaking during the club's Annual General Meeting held at East High School in Kulambiro, Mandela dismissed the calls and reaffirmed his intention to stay on at Sports Club Villa.
"I never wanted to come back but a few people convinced me. The club was in debt of Shs550 million brought by those making noise in the media," Mandela said.
He added that rebuilding a competitive side requires time and stability.
"Uganda's problem is everyone wants already done things. There's too much noise but I am here. I beg the fans to be patient with the process. To compete on the continent, you need at least five years to build a good team. We are trying to do that. Let's work together and grow the club. I want to confirm that I am around, I am not going anywhere like it's been said," he said.
During the AGM, members resolved to increase the presidential nomination fee to Shs100 million, non-refundable, up from Shs19.5 million charged in the previous election cycle.
The decision sets the stage for what is expected to be a high-stakes contest for leadership of one of Uganda's most storied football clubs.
The meeting also marked a celebratory moment as the club officially launched the SC Villa Magazine, a special publication commemorating 50 years of its existence.
According to the club, the Jubilee Magazine highlights historic milestones, memorable triumphs and the personalities who have shaped its legacy over the decades.
Founded in 1975, SC Villa remains one of Uganda's most decorated football institutions. The Jogoos have won multiple league titles and Uganda Cups, and have represented the country in continental competitions, including the CAF Champions League.
In the 2023/2024 season, the club ended a 20-year trophy drought by clinching the Uganda Premier League title, a milestone achieved under Mandela's leadership and one that supporters say restored belief in the club's long-term vision.
