Uganda: Buganda Diaspora Community in UK Installs New Clan Leaders

The Buganda Kingdom diaspora community in East London, Essex and East Anglia has sworn in new clan leaders, known as Abaami be Miruka, in a move aimed at strengthening unity and mobilisation among the Kabaka's subjects living in the United Kingdom.

The swearing-in ceremony was officiated by the Kabaka's Representative to the United Kingdom, Ssaalongo Geoffrey Kibuuka, who urged members of the diaspora to remain united and committed to serving the kingdom.

Kibuuka called on the newly installed leaders to diligently execute their responsibilities, particularly by mobilising members of the community to actively participate in the kingdom's programmes and initiatives.

"We must remain united and committed to serving the Kabaka and our kingdom," he said. "I urge you to carry out the responsibilities entrusted to you and encourage our people to take part in the kingdom's initiatives."

The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Representative to the United Kingdom, Janet Nabata Mukiibi.

It was organised by Omukungu Ssekisonge Omussese, the regional leader overseeing Buganda diaspora affairs in East London, Essex and East Anglia.

Organisers described the event as a renewed call to service, unity and structured leadership within the diaspora community.

They said strengthening coordination among clan leaders is expected to enhance collaboration and engagement among Buganda's subjects abroad while supporting programmes initiated by the kingdom.
