Young Ugandans have been urged to embrace education, learn new languages, and seize international opportunities.
The call was made by the French Ambassador to Uganda, Virginie Leroy, during the fourth Job and Study Fair held at the International French School Kampala on Saturday.
Organised by the Embassy of France in Uganda in partnership with Alliance Française Kampala and the French Chamber of Commerce Uganda, the fair attracted students, recent graduates, and young professionals seeking career guidance and study pathways linked to France.

In her keynote address, Ambassador Leroy called on Ugandan youth to take full advantage of education and language-learning opportunities.
"Go to Alliance Française, take lessons in French, and explore programmes in universities that teach French. These skills are not just about language, they open doors to global careers and partnerships," she said, urging young Ugandans to prepare for regional and international opportunities.
She noted how French companies in Uganda invest in staff development, gender balance, and inclusive workplaces, offering young professionals practical pathways to engage with international business networks.
The ambassador also highlighted upcoming regional platforms, organised under the leadership of French President Emmanuel Macron, as avenues where prepared Ugandan talent can participate in pan-African business and innovation initiatives.
Uganda's Ambassador to France, Doreen Ruth Amule, said cooperation between the two countries continues to create opportunities in education, business, and cultural exchange.
"Before we are defined by nationality, profession, or language, we are first human beings. Humanity calls on us to treat each person with dignity and work together for a peaceful and prosperous society," she said.
Ms Amule noted that collaboration between Ugandan and French universities has strengthened research, knowledge sharing, and innovation while opening doors for Ugandan students to pursue higher education abroad.
Beyond speeches, the fair provided a platform for students and job seekers to interact directly with CEOs, directors, and industry professionals. Attendees participated in CV workshops, mock interviews, and on-the-spot recruitment discussions.
Organisers said the fair continues to bridge the gap between young talent and employers while exposing participants to international study and career pathways, particularly in France.

At the event's conclusion, both officials and participants emphasised the importance of embracing education, language skills, and cross-cultural experiences as tools for success in a globalised world.
