Uganda: Muslims Urged to Shun Deceit As Ramadan Nears End

17 March 2026

Muslims across Uganda have been urged to avoid deceit and embrace transparency in their daily lives as they approach the end of the holy month of Ramadan this week.

The call was made by Sheikh Norman Mbogo while leading a Dua (supplication) for Muslims at an event organized by Wakiso District at Uganda Clays playground in Kajjansi.

Sheikh Mbogo warned that engaging in dishonest practices undermines faith, urging believers to remain truthful in all their dealings.

"We must avoid deceit and live transparent lives in whatever we do, especially with the people we live with," he said.

He also expressed concern over what he described as double standards among some Muslims, noting that many have accumulated wealth but continue to live in ways that do not reflect their true status.

"Some Muslims have acquired wealth but continue to live fake lives. You should not live a life of pretense, be genuine and content with what you have," he added.

Kira Municipality Member of Parliament Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda used the same platform to caution Ugandans against neglecting national issues, saying many people are focusing on less important matters.

"It is unfortunate that some Ugandans no longer care about issues that move the country forward but instead spend time on things that do not add value," Ssemujju said.

Wakiso District Woman Member of Parliament Betty Ethel Naluyima called on believers to continue praying for peace and stability in the country.

"As we conclude Ramadan, let us continue to pray for peace and unity in our country," she noted.

Meanwhile, Wakiso District Chairperson Dr. Matia Lwanga Bwanika said such engagements have been part of his leadership efforts, adding that he will continue working with residents even as his term draws to a close.

"Since I assumed office, I have prioritized working closely with the people, and I will continue doing so as my term comes to an end," Bwanika said.

The leaders made the remarks as Muslims intensify prayers and reflection during the final days of Ramadan.
