Uganda: Katikkiro Mayiga Emphasizes Education As Africa's True Wealth

The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has advised African leaders that the continent's true wealth lies in education, urging stakeholders across Uganda to prioritize quality learning.

Mayiga made these remarks at Bulange Mengo while officiating the presentation of funds collected from Buganda Kingdom schools and other school attached to the Kingdom under the "Luwalo Lwaffe" initiative.

Katikkiro Mayiga further called upon school administrators to treat education as a highly valuable and quality-driven investment:

"Education should be handled as a matter of great value and high standards."

Primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions under the Buganda Kingdom from all 18 counties and other schools attached to Buganda Kingdom gathered at Bulange to present their contributions. The total amount collected exceeded to over shs. 92 million.

Among the notable contributors were:

Lubiri High School Buloba Campus with shs.10 million,Lubiri High School Main Campus contributed shs. 10 million,Buganda Royal Institute contributed shs.25 million, Muteesa I Royal University shs. 25 million

Lubiri Nnabagereka Primary School shs. 5 million

Mayiga thanked these schools for the efforts they have made towards this Luwalo Lwaffe intiativr and urged schools founded on Buganda Kingdom principles to strengthen the quality of education by focusing on five key areas

Among these areas are Teaching Buganda culture and traditions,Promoting Buganda history in depth,Emphasizing agriculture studies,Integrating technology into learning

Maintaining high education standards

"If these five areas are well taught, learners will not only benefit Buganda but also improve their future livelihoods."Mayiga Said

He added that the reign of the Kabaka continues to make history due to the high standards of education and the increasing number of kingdom-established schools attracting many learners.

The Minister in charge of Education and Development in Buganda Kingdom, Choltilda Nakate Kikomeko thanked these schools for their contributions and pledged stronger participation in the initiative next year.

School heads, led by Charles Sebina of Lubiri High School Buloba, welcomed the "Luwalo Lwaffe" program and committed to implementing the Katikkiro's guidance.
