Sudan: Prime Minister Affirms Commitment to Higher Education and Approves 100 Percent Salary Increase

Khartoum, March 30, 2026 (SUNA) - Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris reaffirmed the government's commitment to improving conditions for university faculty, support staff, and research center personnel during a meeting with Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Ahmed Modawi Musa.

The Minister stated that he presented a comprehensive report on the current state of Sudanese universities and ongoing operations, alongside efforts to implement a 100% salary increase as part of an integrated plan to enhance compensation across the sector.

Discussions also addressed improving the work environment, ensuring professional and living stability, and approving new service conditions.

The meeting further examined plans to integrate artificial intelligence tracks into university curricula to keep pace with global technological advancements.

Dr. Modawi Musa affirmed the government's determination to meet the aspirations of academic and administrative staff across higher education institutions and research centers.
