South Africa: Cogta Committee to Receive Briefing On Water Sector Audits and Engage With Religious Leaders

The Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) will on Tuesday receive a briefing on the Office of the Auditor-General's findings on failures in the water value chain, their impact and causes.

The Water Report for the 2023-2024 financial year provides key insights into failures in the water value chain, drawn from the AG's audits of national and local government. The AG will also share recommendations made to the key role-players in the accountability ecosystem.

The committee will also continue with its engagements with the religious sector and discuss the report on the determination of renumeration of the commissioners of the Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Rights Commission.

Also on the agenda are several stakeholders who will make oral submissions on the Intergovernmental Monitoring, Support and Interventions Bill. The South African Local Government Association, the Active Citizen Movement and the Commission for Gender Equality are among stakeholders who will make oral submissions.
