Somalia's President Briefs Diplomats On Security, Reforms

Mogadishu, Somalia — Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met ambassadors and representatives of international organizations at the presidential palace on Monday, where he outlined progress on security, political reforms and humanitarian response in Somalia.

The Somali leader told diplomats that cooperation between the government and citizens had produced gains in security, preparations for direct elections, counterterrorism operations, drought relief and efforts to strengthen national unity.

He thanked foreign partners for their continued support to state-building, security and economic development, stressing that his administration would deepen international cooperation based on mutual respect and shared interests.
