Kenya Reaffirms Solidarity As UAE Raises Concern Over Gulf Infrastructure Attacks

Nairobi — United Arab Emirates (UAE) Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Balalaa has warned of serious global consequences following attacks on Gulf infrastructure blamed on Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Balalaa says the attacks threaten civilian safety and could have far-reaching economic and environmental impacts worldwide.

He spoke during a call with Kenya's Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing'Oei, who conveyed Kenya's solidarity and support for diplomatic efforts in line with President William Ruto's position.

"He apprised me on the gravity of the situation in the region, and in particular the repercussions of IRGC's unjustified attacks of critical infrastructure of GCC countries on not only civilian security, but economic and environmental security of the Globe," the Foreign Affairs PS stated.

"I conveyed to him Kenya's solidarity- in line with President Ruto's well stated position on this matter- and assured him of our readiness to work with the UAE to respond through diplomatic means to this escalating situation," Singoei added.

Based on reports from March and April 2026, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has engaged in a series of attacks against critical infrastructure in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.

Attacks have targeted key industrial, civilian, and economic infrastructure, including desalination plants, aluminum smelters, and airport facilities in the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.
