Nairobi — The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has advertised the position of Commissioner General following the departure of Humphrey Wattanga.
In a notice, the taxman said the successful candidate will oversee day-to-day operations, manage the Authority's funds and property, and provide strategic leadership to staff.
"He/she will ensure that the Authority operates in line with its Vision 'An agile tax and customs revenue agency facilitating voluntary compliance for all'," KRA said.
The Authority stated that applicants must hold a Master's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Law or a related field, and have at least 15 years of work experience--10 of which must be at a senior leadership level in large public or private institutions. Knowledge of fiscal and tax policy and administration will be an added advantage.
The advertisement follows the appointment of Lilian Nyawanda as Acting Commissioner General, replacing Wattanga, who proceeded on terminal leave. Nyawanda also serves as Commissioner for Customs and Border Control.
President William Ruto has since nominated Wattanga as Kenya's High Commissioner to South Africa.
