Kenya: Safaricom's My Oneapp Handles Sh100bn Daily in Transactions

Nairobi — Safaricom's My OneApp is processing about Sh100 billion daily in transactions, highlighting the scale of digital payments growth in Kenya.

Chief Executive Peter Ndegwa said the platform handles roughly 500 million transactions each day, driven largely by M-Pesa activity.

Speaking at the Connected Africa Summit 2026 in Nairobi, Ndegwa noted that the newly launched app can process up to 10,000 transactions per second.

My OneApp merges the M-Pesa and mySafaricom apps into a single platform, offering users a unified interface for financial and telecommunications services.

The app provides access to services including sending money, Lipa na M-Pesa, airtime, data, SMS, Bonga Points and Home Fibre, acting as a one-stop shop for customers.

It also introduces features such as AI-driven personalisation, mini apps and contactless payments aimed at improving user experience and expanding digital services.

Ndegwa added that M-Pesa now operates in seven markets, stressing the need for stronger collaboration with governments to reduce friction and accelerate digital transformation in public services.
