Uganda: Black and White Quiz Night Gives Kampala the Perfect Slow Start Into May

As April came to a close and Kampala ushered in the Labour Day holiday weekend, many city dwellers opted for a quieter alternative to the usual parties and crowded dance floors. Instead, they turned to a relaxed evening of laughter, teamwork, cocktails and brain-teasing fun.

With a growing preference for calmer, experience-driven outings that foster genuine connection, quiz nights are increasingly becoming popular.

They offer easygoing entertainment where friends bond over random knowledge, strangers form teams and laughter often matter more than getting the right answer.

On Friday night, May 1, 2026, Inspire Café turned into a lively social hub as Black & White whisky hosted another edition of its Quiz Night.

The event attracted young professionals, creatives and social groups seeking to unwind after a long week and ease into the new month on a positive note.

By 7pm, the venue was already filling up as teams settled in. Early arrivals took part in interactive games while tables quickly transformed into mini contest spaces filled with whispered answers, playful debates and confident guesses, some of which proved wrong to the amusement of many. Anticipation built steadily ahead of the official quiz kickoff at 8pm.

Hosted by Regan Rwabuhoro, the evening transitioned smoothly from one round to another. Guests enjoyed Black & White whisky and cocktails as they shared stories and celebrated small wins with cheers that occasionally drew the attention of neighboring teams.

The night featured five quiz rounds and one interactive challenge, maintaining a steady rhythm throughout the event.

"The aim of this interactive segment is to encourage participation, excitement and social connection among guests," Rwabuhoro explained.

During this segment, each team selected a representative to compete in a fast-paced word formation challenge, with the team generating the most words emerging as winners.

The quiz covered a wide range of topics, including general knowledge, phone brands and creative rounds built around the word "blue."

One of the most engaging moments came during the final round, where teams identified famous footballers from caricatures displayed on screen.

Another highlight tested participants' knowledge of Uganda's security forces, requiring teams to identify different units based on images of officers in uniform.

The atmosphere remained both celebratory and relaxed throughout the evening. Black & White enhanced the experience by awarding cocktail prizes to teams that won individual rounds, while overall winners received whisky prizes.

Guests who purchased 750ml bottles were also given complimentary mixers, contributing to the lively mood as winning teams celebrated and others laughed off their losses while promising to return for the next edition.

According to Black & White Brand Manager Raymond Karama, quiz nights strike a balance between relaxation and engagement.

"What makes nights like this special is the shared knowledge in the room and the moments people create together. It is an experience we are proud to add to as Black & White," he said.
