Uganda: NRM Leaders From Mubende Head to Kololo for Museveni's Inauguration

Supporters of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Mubende District have praised President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for what they described as significant development achievements in the area since the party came to power.

The remarks were made as NRM leaders and supporters set off for Kololo Ceremonial Grounds to attend President Museveni's swearing-in ceremony scheduled for tomorrow.

Early in the morning, party members gathered at the NRM offices in Mubende Municipality before departing for Kampala, joining thousands of supporters expected at the national event.

According to Patrick Abaho, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Mubende District, only 70 representatives from the district were officially cleared to attend the ceremony.

"We are very happy to be part of this historic ceremony for our party chairman President Museveni," Abaho said.

"Since the NRM government came into power, Mubende has witnessed tremendous development including improved roads, schools, health facilities, electricity extension and government poverty eradication programmes that have transformed people's lives."

He urged residents to continue supporting the NRM government, saying more development projects are still expected in the district.

Sunday Tadeo, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Mubende Municipality, also expressed optimism, citing improvements in peace, business activity, and service delivery.

"As leaders in Mubende Municipality, we are proud of the progress achieved under President Museveni's leadership. His government has promoted peace, business growth and improved service delivery in our communities. We are honoured to attend the swearing-in ceremony of our chairman," Tadeo said.

Other supporters, including Hajji Hawa Ssemakula, Musa Kaboggoza, and Rwabutugure Nsubuga, said they were excited to witness the ceremony and celebrate what they described as continued leadership and development under the NRM government.

"This is a great day for us as NRM supporters. We are excited to witness the swearing-in ceremony and celebrate the leadership of President Museveni," they said.

Rwabutugure Nsubuga, the Chairperson of Entrepreneurs in Mubende District, said they expect the new term to bring more opportunities, especially for young people.

"We believe the next term of President Museveni will bring more opportunities for the youth and further development across the country," Nsubuga said.

NRM spokesperson in Mubende, Twaha Mukomazi, said the continued support for the President reflects appreciation of government programmes and development projects in the district.

"Because of the development President Museveni has brought to Mubende, many residents have continued to support him overwhelmingly during elections," Mukomazi said.

He also revealed that arrangements have been made for local celebrations across Mubende District to enable those who will not travel to Kololo to participate in the swearing-in festivities from their communities.

"We have organised celebrations across the district so that even those who will not make it to Kololo can still celebrate the swearing-in of our president," he said.
