The Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement, Richard Todwong, has reaffirmed the ruling party's commitment to strengthening political, economic and ideological cooperation with Venezuela's governing United Socialist Party following high-level talks in Kampala.
The meeting, held at the party headquarters on Plot 10 Kyaddondo Road, brought together senior officials from both parties and focused on expanding bilateral cooperation, political solidarity and exchanges in investment, governance and social development.
Hosting the Venezuelan delegation, Todwong described the visit as a milestone in advancing relations between the two political movements and reiterated NRM's support for Venezuela amid ongoing political and economic challenges.
"We are deeply grateful that you accepted our invitation and traveled all the way from Venezuela to Uganda," he said.

Todwong said the NRM stands in solidarity with Venezuela and encouraged resilience in the face of challenges.
"The journey toward full liberation is long, and the resolve of the people cannot be broken down by a single incident," he said.
He added that Uganda would continue to promote investment partnerships and exchanges between the two countries, noting opportunities for mutual learning.
"We want to have more people visit Venezuela, and we want more Venezuelans coming to Uganda," he said.
Todwong also highlighted the NRM's ideological pillars of patriotism, Pan-Africanism, democracy and socio-economic transformation, saying these continue to shape its domestic and international outlook.
Leading the Venezuelan delegation, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Rander Peña praised the NRM for its historical role in political transformation and liberation movements.
He called for strengthened cooperation between the two parties through increased exchanges of leaders and citizens to share governance and development experiences.
"We want to strengthen cooperation and share experiences in different aspects of the lives of our people," he said.
The delegation also thanked the NRM leadership for the hospitality extended during their visit to Uganda.
